Volleyball Wins Regular Season Finale At Dominican, Earns CACC Tournament's Number One Seed

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Thomas Jefferson University volleyball team (21-6, 15-2 CACC) finished the regular season with a 3-1 victory at Dominican (11-16, 9-9 CACC) on Friday night, securing the number one overall seed for next week's CACC Tournament.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Chargers recorded the first point of the match but the Rams answered with eight in a row to take control. Jefferson was ahead by nine (14-5) then pulled away with a 7-0 run en route to taking the opening set 25-9.
 
The score was even at two in the second before the Rams strung together five points for a 7-2 advantage. Dominican closed the gap to two (8-6) but Jefferson came back with six of the next seven to make it 14-7. It was a five-point margin (17-12) before the Rams tallied eight of the last nine to win the frame 25-13.
 
Jefferson scored the first point of the third but the Chargers responded with six of the next seven to take a 6-2 lead. The Rams gradually cut into the deficit and trailed by one (21-20) late in the set. However, Dominican posted four consecutive points for a 25-20 victory.
 
In the fourth, the Rams took the early lead with the first three points. Trailing 7-4, the Chargers rallied for five in a row to go in front 9-7. Dominican was able to up its advantage to four at 17-13 but the Rams produced four straight to even the score. The teams were tied at 20 before Jefferson scored five of eight to clinch the match with a 25-23 triumph.
