WATERBURY, Conn. – The Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse team (8-3, 6-0 CACC) used a dominant 9-0 stretch spanning the first and second quarters to defeat Post, 22-7, in a CACC game on Sunday.
GAMEPLAY
The Eagles got the first goal of the game just 39 seconds in. The Rams came back with three in a row to take a 3-1 lead with 7:09 to go in the quarter. After Post scored to make it a one-goal game, Jefferson rattled off nine straight beginning at the 2:56 mark of the first and ending with 5:50 to play in the second.
Erin Avanzato led the way with three goals and
Carina Raymond had two, including one while the Rams were shorthanded.
Both teams tallied a pair of goals in the last four minutes of the half and Jefferson led 14-4 at the break. In the third, the Rams pulled away with a 5-0 run that finished at the 6:02 mark of the period.
Madison Caffrey netted two of the five and Jefferson held a 19-4 advantage. The Eagles followed with three goals to close the gap to 12 (19-7) with 12:16 left in the fourth. The Rams then tallied the final three of the contest.

CACC PLAYOFF PICTURE
With three games remaining in the regular season, the Rams have secured a spot in the CACC Tournament. Jefferson is currently tied for first with Georgian Court. The Rams can finish no lower than fourth, meaning they will either host a first-round game or receive a bye to the semifinals.
