NEW CASTLE, Del. – The Thomas Jefferson University volleyball team (6-1) went a perfect 3-0 on the weekend at the Wilmington Regional Invitational. The Rams have won six in a row overall.
MATCH ONE – W, 3-1 vs. New Haven
The teams were even at two in the opening set when Jefferson pulled ahead with a 7-2 stretch. The Rams did not trail for the remainder of the frame, winning 25-21. The Chargers took the first six points and nine of the first 10 in the second. They went on to even the match with a 25-21 victory.
In the third, Jefferson was behind 7-5 before turning it around with a 6-0 surge. After New Haven strung together four points to tie it at 11, the Rams went in front for good with six of the next seven and went on to win the set 25-17. Jefferson was ahead 5-3 in the fourth before pulling away with an 8-1 run. The Rams clinched the match with a 25-19 decision.

MATCH TWO – W, 3-0 vs. Saint Rose
Jefferson clung to a one-point lead at 6-5 in the opening set. The Rams created some distance with a 6-1 stretch to make it 12-6. The Golden Knights battled back, however, and eventually took a 17-16 advantage. The teams went back and forth until Jefferson rallied for three points and a 23-20 lead. Saint Rose fought off three set points and tied it at 24 but the Rams answered with two points and took the frame 26-24.
Jefferson dominated the second set, getting out to a 12-1 stranglehold and winning the set easily, 25-10. There were seven ties in the third with the last coming at 13-all. The Rams then scored five of the next six points to go ahead 18-14. Jefferson held off the Golden Knights and claimed the match with a 25-20 win.

MATCH THREE – W, 3-1 vs. Adelphi
The score was even at two in the opening frame. Jefferson tallied three points in a row to take the lead and did not trail the rest of the way in a 25-17 triumph. In the second, the Rams had a 2-0 edge but the Panthers answered with seven of the next eight to go in front 7-3. Jefferson closed the gap to two (10-8) but Adelphi pulled away with a 9-1 surge and went on to take the set, 25-15.
The Rams opened up a 6-2 lead in the third. The Panthers were able to get within one at 19-18 but Jefferson scored four straight to make it 23-18. After Adelphi rallied for four points of its own, a
Sam Mann kill and a Panthers error gave the Rams the set, 25-22.
It was a two-point game at 10-8 in the fourth in favor of the Rams. Jefferson then went on a 6-1 run to up the margin to seven (16-9). Adelphi got back in it, posting seven straight points to tie the score. However, the Rams responded with five of the next six and went on the win the match with a 25-19 victory.
