Two Second Half Goals Gives 3-1 Victory for Men's Soccer over Goldey-Beacom
WILMINGTON, DE. - Being tied at 1-1 heading into the second half, Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer (4-7, 3-4) had two goals to propel them to a 3-1 win in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action over Goldey-Beacom College (5-8-1, 3-4-1) in Wednesday afternoon competition.
WHAT HAPPENED
Jefferson got out ahead first at the 9th minute when Diego Guzman took a shot off a Sean Stackhouse pass and scored to put the Rams up 1-0 early in the first half. Both teams would keep competing to earn another goal on the board, with the Lightning eventually scoring at the 36th minute to tie the game head into the break with the score at 1-1.
The second half would see Jefferson get ahead 2-1 when they were fouled in the box, giving Gabe Paz a penalty kick that he would convert on. After another few minutes, Miles Hood would find the net himself as he would put Jefferson up 3-1. Goldey-Beacom would take five shots after that to cut into the lead, but a stout Ram's defense held onto the 3-1 victory.
