Volleyball Earns Sweep Over Goldey-Beacom
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's volleyball team (14-9, 11-2) returned to the win column as they earned a 3-0 sweep over Goldey-Beacom College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play this Tuesday night at the Gallagher Center.
WHAT HAPPENED
The Rams went into their grove early on, taking the first six points and going ahead 7-2. After a Lightning point, Jefferson would take the next five and raise their lead to 12-3. They would keep their attack going, eventually being ahead 17-5. Goldey-Beacom would begin to cut down the lead, eventually making it a four-point game as they were only down 20-16. Jefferson would secure the next three points, eventually holding onto a 25-19 first set win.
The second set would begin to be more even at 4-4, but the Rams would earn four in a row to go up 8-4. Each Lightning point would be responded with another Jefferson two to three-point advantage, eventually getting to 18-10 before the Rams ended the set by going on a 7-4 run and finishing the second with a 25-14 win.
Jefferson was able to capitalize on Goldey-Beacom mistakes, jumping ahead 10-2 on attack errors and service aces. After a Lightning point, the Rams would secure the next five and push their lead to 15-3. Goldey-Beacom would go on a 4-1 run and cut the lead to nine, but four more points in a row added to Jefferson's lead once more 20-7. Jefferson would conclude the third set by earning five of the last nine points, finishing the game with a 25-11 set victory and a conference sweep.
