Volleyball Gets Two Wins To Begin Crimson Hawk Classic
INDIANA, PA – The Thomas Jefferson University volleyball team (3-4) would begin the Indiana (Pa.) Crimson Hawk Classic by taking the first two games of the event, with the Rams taking a close 3-2 win over Frostburg State University (6-5). Jefferson would then complete a 3-0 sweep over Davis & Elkins College (0-9).
MATCH ONE – W, 3-2 vs Frostburg State
Jefferson would go ahead to a 4-2 lead. The Bobcats would get the game even, and both squads would trade points back and forth. After Frostburg State took the lead 10-8, the Rams would get an attack error and two kills to regain the lead. Frostburg State would answer immediately back as they would score four of the next five points. Jefferson would tie it all at 14-14, but the Bobcats would finish the set on an 11-2 run and take set one 25-16.
Frostburg State would jump ahead to go up 5-1 early in the second set. The Bobcats would keep their momentum going as they would extend their lead to 14-8, but Jefferson would take the next five points to get within one. After trading points, the Rams would have the game tied at 18-18, eventually taking seven of the next nine points to earn a 25-20 win in the second set.
Jefferson would take the first point in the third set, but the Bobcats would go on a seven-point run to take the early lead. The Rams would get the next three, but Frostburg State continued their offensive momentum and would go up 20-11. Jefferson would begin to slowly cut the lead down, but Frostburg State would just be too far ahead as they secured the last point in the set to go ahead 2-1 with a 25-19 win in the third.
Both teams would be even through the fourth set, getting even at 9-9 before the Bobcats would take six of the next nine points to go up 15-12. The Rams would waste little time in taking the lead and extending it as they would go on a 10-1 run and be ahead 22-16. Jefferson secured the fourth set by taking the last two points and winning the fourth set 25-18, tying the series up at 2-2 heading into the fifth.
Both teams would get the last set tied through the beginning, having it at 4-4. After Frostburg went ahead 6-5, Jefferson took the next four points to jump ahead 9-6. The Bobcats would get the game tied at 12-12, but two kills and an error would finish the fifth set with a 15-12 win for Jefferson and take the first match 3-2.

Jefferson would go ahead 5-3 to begin the first set. The Senators would get within one point, but the Rams took the next five to go ahead 13-8. After the game was 15-12, Jefferson would go on a 10-3 run as they took the first game 25-15.
Davis & Elkins would keep it tied at 4-4 in the second set before Jefferson jumped out to a 10-7 lead. The Rams and Senators would then trade four point stretches before Jefferson had a five-point run, eventually keeping ahold of their lead and taking the second set 25-16.
After another 4-4 tie to begin the third, Jefferson would try to close out the series as they scored nine straight to go ahead 13-4. Davis & Elkins would get a few points in the last set, but the Rams would have multiple two-to-three-point stretches, eventually taking the third 25-11 and winning 3-0 for the match.
