Women's Cross Country Sweeps Yearly Awards and All-Conference Runners; Rams Take 14th CACC Title

PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's cross country team looked to defend their title as they competed in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships this Saturday afternoon. The Rams earned each yearly award, the Top XVII award winner, and had all seven runners make the top-15 to be named All-Conference as Jefferson took home their second consecutive CACC Championships, making it seven out of eight years and 14 out of 16 seasons.

WHAT HAPPENED

  • Ana Eshraghi was able to lead the pack, edging out Chestnut Hill's Sydney Watts as a 20:15.25 time helped Eshraghi repeat as CACC Runner of the Year to take first place in the event. This is Jefferson's second back-to-back Runner of the Year, being the first since Sarah Simonetti accomplished that feat in 2010 & 2011.
  • Annalee Capuano finished third behind them, running a 20:28.86 time on the event. Hannah Powell got sixth as a 20:53.73 time, which helped her as the highest rookie finisher to give them CACC Rookie of the Year.
  • Natalie McFadden (21:05.31), Lydia Shaw (21:05.69), Audrey Pham (21:11.94), and Sarah Lorenz (21:12.18) all finished back to back from one another as they went eighth, ninth, 10th, and 11th respectively in order.
  • Eshraghi, Capuano, Shaw, and Pham all earned another All-CACC honors in their career. Eshraghi earns their fourth, Shaw and Capuano took their third, and Pham walked away with her second.
  • McFadden, Powell, and Lorenz earned their first All-CACC recognition in their careers.
  • Pham was recognized after the race as she received the Top XVII Award for having the highest GPA at the event.
  • With all seven runners making All-Conference, this is the first time in school history that each racer has made the All-CACC team. This also marks the lowest point total the Rams have received in the race, with 27 being the least amount of points earned in school history. They beat 29 points Jefferson earned in 2014.
