Men's Soccer Rolls to 3-0 Win Over Shippensburg
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer (2-0-1) has a strong outing as they scored two goals in the first half while holding Shippensburg University (1-1) to seven shots as the Rams defeated the Raiders 3-0 in non-conference action.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Game started with a strong defense by both teams, with neither side letting their aggressive play falter throughout the game
- TJ Hibsman scored at the 34th minute with Sean Stackhouse getting a free kick and delivering a perfect pass to him in the middle, allowing Hibsman to score and give Jefferson the lead
- Matty Harmon put his shot in for the Rams at the 41st minute. Rob Arnason found Harmon, where he shot at the goalie and it ricocheted off a defender to hit the back of the net for the second Rams goal
- Jefferson entered the break with a 2-0 lead over the Raiders
- The second half saw more competitiveness from each squad, as four of the six yellow cards were produced in this half.
- Diego Guzman put the third goal up for Jefferson, hitting the lower middle for a 3-0 advantage
- Shippensburg looked to comeback, but were held to five shots compared to the Rams 10
- John Nelson made 3 saves on the day while stopping a few kicks from the middle
