Women's Volleyball Unable to Sweep; Falls in Five to Kutztown
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's volleyball (5-6) controlled the first two sets and looked to seal away a win in the Gallagher Center against Kutztown University (7-6). The Rams couldn't keep down a hot Golden Bears squad in the final three sets as Jefferson dropped a 3-2 non-conference match on Tuesday night.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The Rams got out to a strong start, taking the first set 25-18 as they had a .325 hitting percentage. The second set followed suit with Jefferson taking down Kutztown 25-15 and looked to earn the sweep
- The Golden Bears went to get on their own run, winning the third set 25-22 and securing the fourth set 25-21, evening the series out
- The fifth set went back and forth but ultimately went in favor of Kutztown, downing the Rams 15-12
- Alexa Pomeroy led the Rams with 21 kills followed by 16 from Emily McKenna. Meredith Adams dished out 42 assists and Kate Hines had 38 digs. Liz Tanis earned six blocks on the evening as well
