Men's Soccer Upset Bid Falls Short Against No.12 Southern New Hampshire

PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer (4-5-4) had the match tied at 2-2 during the break, looking to make an upset against a top-25 team, but a goal allowed at the 57th minute dropped the Rams in their 3-2 defeat to no.12 nationally-ranked Southern New Hampshire University (9-1-2) in Saturday afternoon action. 

WHAT HAPPENED 

• The Penmen got ahead of the Rams early on as a goal in the 10th and 26th minute put Jefferson down in an early 2-0 deficit 

• Diego Guzman got the Rams on the board with a goal from a Gavin Dunlop assist to cut the lead to one goal. A penalty in the box set up Sean Stackhouse with a penalty kick and tied the game at 2-2 right before the half 

• Jefferson looked for the upset but were down early in the second half as a goal by Southern New Hampshire at the 57th minute turned the match into a 3-2 contest 

• The Rams had two shot attempts after being down, unable to even the game once more and suffering a defeat to the Penmen 

• Guzman and Stackhouse had a goal on the day with Dunlop earning an assist while Lucca Bellina made 6 saves in the net
