Women's Volleyball Sweeps in Home Opener
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's volleyball (2-1) had their first home game inside the Gallagher Center, where the Rams went to sweep Lincoln University (0-3) in a Tuesday night non-conference competition.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Jefferson controlled the first set, holding a .333 hitting percentage. The Lions went to get as close as two points for an 8-6 score, but the Rams pulled away to win 25-14. Morgan Martin, Emily McKenna, Liz Tanis, Gabby Titus, Jaysa Even, and Pemi Areola all contributed with at least one kill in the first set
- Second set repeated as the first with Lincoln getting as close as two points while the Rams garnered multiple two and three point runs to take it 25-14 and be up 2-0. Jefferson held a .276 hitting percentage in the second
- The third set saw the Rams score four straight points to go up 5-2 and never relinquish the lead. Jefferson had only a .063 hitting percentage. The defense showed up, allowing a 0.0 hitting percentage for the Lions as the Rams concluded the night with a 25-19 win and the sweep over Lincoln
- Titus led the team with nine kills while Martin, Tanis, and McKenna each produced six apiece. Meredith Adams dished out 15 assists with Evelynn Mufalli adding seven of her own. Brianna Gritzman and Kate Hines recorded 8 digs while Areola and Martin had two blocks each.
