Women's Soccer Scores Early Goal; Secures Third Straight Win
PHILADELPHIA –
Nikki Dedes goal at the 4:20 mark in the game was held firmly by the Rams the rest of the way as the Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer team (4-1) delivered a 1-0 win over Southern Connecticut State University (1-2-1) in Wednesday afternoon non-conference action.
WHAT HAPPENED
- A bounce ball from Kyra Lesko went into Dedes direction. After receiving the ball, she took the ball and kicked to the right side pole, edging it in by the goalkeeper and the pole itself for Jefferson to get ahead 1-0 early on.
- Jefferson had a few opportunities to score in the first half, with Lesko passing the goalie and shooting her shot that just hit the right post
- The Rams defense held strong, allowing one shot in the first half and three the entire match.
- Their offense brought pressure, delivering 13 shots throughout the 90-minute contest
- Carly Hayman made one save on the day as she has her third win on the season and second shutout as well
