Women's Basketball Comeback Falls Short at Chestnut Hill
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball (12-6, 6-4) stayed in state and took on Chestnut Hill College (10-8, 7-3) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action. The Rams trailed the Griffins after the first quarter and fought back in the second half but ultimately fell 75-69 in Tuesday evening action.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The Rams found themselves in a early hole as they were outscored 21-10 in the opening quarter. Jefferson rallied in the second half as they had a 15-6 run that had them trail by two with 3:37 to go. Chestnut Hill added a pair of free throws and layups to go in the break up by six over Jefferson
- The Rams paced themselves in the third as they eventually took the lead 40-37 with 5:03 left in the quarter. Both teams went back and forth to tie the game with the Griffins eventually leading by three after a buzzer beating three-pointer by Anahita Jackson to give Chestnut Hill a 50-47 lead
- The fourth saw the most points scored by both teams in a quarter this game as Jefferson notched 22 while Chestnut Hill put up 25. The Rams climbed as close as one point early in the fourth, but the Griffins kept their pace going throughout the rest of the game. Jefferson trailed by nine with 55 seconds to go and didn't get as close as five points after the two-minute mark, falling 75-69
- Gabby Recinto tied her career-high in points with 22 while Emily Spratt followed behind as she added 21 on the evening. Carolyn Sipprell was the other Ram player to score double digit points with 10. Recinto recorded her fourth double double with 13 rebounds. Tori Nigro dished out five assists in the contest and Jade Marquez had eight points from the bench. Sara Tamoun put up a career-high 26 points for Chestnut Hill with Tiayo Adelekan had 16 points and rebounds off the bench

They start their rematches on Saturday, January 24 as the Rams take on Felician University at 1:30 p.m. in the Gallagher Center. Jefferson fell in their first match to the Golden Falcons 81-51 on November 25, 2025.
