Men's Basketball Leaves Wilmington with CACC Win
WILMINGTON, Del. – After holding the lead throughout the first half, the Thomas Jefferson University men's basketball team (10-9, 6-6) trailed Wilmington University (Del.) (8-12, 4-8) by a point with 8:04 left in the game. The Rams outscored the Wildcats 20-13 the rest of the way to earn a 83-77 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory in Thursday evening action.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Trailing 10-9, the Rams put up seven straight points to go ahead 16-10. The Wildcats tied it at 16-16 and kept the game even at the 8:25 mark. Jefferson outscored Wilmington 19-15 and went to the half ahead 40-36
- The Rams kept their lead intact, but the Wildcats inched closer as the second half kept progressing. Wilmington eventually took the lead at the 8:04 mark with a layup and-one conversion to make the score 64-63
- Jefferson refused to go down, outscoring the Wildcats 20-13 behind eight points from Jeremiah Dorsey and seven by Jahmare Memphis to give the Rams a 83-77 CACC win
- Dorsey led the team with 23 points while Memphis had a career-high in points (18) and rebounds (6) as they helped the Rams earn the victory. Isaiah Thomas-McClain produced 12 points with Sean Fullerton and Matt McCool getting double digits off the bench with 13 and 11 respectively
- Wilmington saw four of their players reach double digit points with Tre Hawkins leading all scorers on the night with 25
