Lesko Scores Dramatic Winner as Rams Clinch Postseason

A poised effort from Lesko in the waning moments helped Jefferson escape Georgian Court

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Oct. 14, 2026) – Senior midfielder Kyra Lesko (Pennsburg, Pa. / Upper Perkiomen) delivered the final blow with less than five minutes to go in regulation as the Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer team outlasted Georgian Court University, 3-2, at Ravenhill Field on Wednesday afternoon.

With just four games to go in conference play, Jefferson has officially clinched a CACC Postseason Tournament berth for the 21st consecutive season. The Rams have never missed the tournament in an eligible season, appearing every season from 2006 through 2025 — a streak of 20 consecutive appearances, including the 2020 season played in spring 2021.

Despite holding a sizable advantage in scoring opportunities over the full 90, the Rams needed one final breakthrough after the visiting Lions erased a pair of one-goal deficits. Lesko provided it in the 86th minute, finishing off an assist from freshman forward Jalina Gonzalez (Fleetwood, Pa. / Fleetwood) to move Jefferson to 8-1-2 overall and a perfect 7-0 in CACC play. The pass from Gonzalez caught the opposing goalkeeper out of position, affording experienced senior Lesko the opportunity to take her time and fire the ball into the back of a wide open net.

The Rams established their attacking presence early, generating the game's first eight shots before sophomore Isa Geoghan (Hazlet, N.J. / Raritan) opened scoring at approximately the 20-minute mark. Senior midfielder Evelin Ventura-Garcia (Philadelphia, Pa. / Esperanza Academy) supplied the assist, beginning a productive afternoon in which she helped create Jefferson's first two goals.

The Rams carried that 1-0 advantage into halftime after outshooting Georgian Court, 11-1, over the opening 45 minutes. Senior Sophia Henry (Deptford, N.J. / Deptford Township) nearly added to the advantage when she struck the post in the 57th minute.

Gonzalez finished with a goal and an assist while leading Jefferson with six shots. The Rams held advantages of 25-5 in shots, 14-3 in shots on goal and 7-2 in corner kicks, willing themselves to the win with immense offensive pressure. Junior goalkeeper Carly Hayman (Pittsgrove, N.J. / A.P. Schalick) played the full 90 minutes and made one save to earn the victory.

Head Coach Michelle Jacquette and the Rams will look to extend their perfect conference run when they travel to Dominican University of New York on Saturday, Oct. 17. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
