PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Oct. 20, 2026) – Senior Evelin Ventura-Garcia (Philadelphia, Pa. / Esperanza Academy) contributed to each of Jefferson's first three goals as the Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer team defeated Holy Family University, 5-0, at Ravenhill Field on Tuesday afternoon.
The Rams wasted little time taking control of their not-so-distant rivals from across the city. Freshman Tessa Hughes (Warrington, Pa. / Central Bucks South) opened scoring just 1:46 into the contest, with assists off the feet of Ventura-Garcia and freshman Jalina Gonzalez (Fleetwood, Pa. / Fleetwood). Gonzalez doubled the advantage in the 11th minute off Ventura-Garcia's second assist.
Ventura-Garcia then added a goal of her own in the 16th minute, finishing an opportunity created by senior Kyra Lesko (Pennsburg, Pa. / Upper Perkiomen) to give Jefferson a 3-0 halftime cushion.
The scoring continued after the break. Sophomore Annika Jurik (Phoenix, Ariz. / Desert Vista) converted an assist from junior Izzy Alexandre (Brighton, N.Y. / Brighton) in the 65th minute before Alexandre supplied the final goal in the 73rd. In doing so, Jefferson was able to trigger mercy rule for the second time in as many games, just days after their 6-0 win over Dominican University.
Junior goalkeeper Carly Hayman (Pittsgrove, N.J. / A.P. Schalick) made one save over 90 minutes to secure the clean sheet. Jefferson's defense allowed just one shot after halftime, while the Rams finished with advantages of 17-5 in shots and 5-1 in corner kicks.
Head Coach Michelle Jacquette and the Rams continue their homestand against the University of Bridgeport on Thursday, Oct. 22. The result of Thursday's game will likely determine the number one seed in the upcoming CACC Tournament. Kickoff at Ravenhill Field is scheduled for 3 p.m.
