PHILADELPHIA – In the first of their three straight home contests, Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball (17-9, 11-7) scored 40+ points in the first and second half of competition as the Rams went to cruise to a 82-43 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory against Goldey-Beacom College (5-19, 5-12) in Tuesday evening action.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
  • Jefferson opened with six straight points that pushed them to outscoring the Lightning 19-7
  • The Rams continued their attack, pushing the pressure for a 23-10 advantage in the second quarter. Jefferson shot 50% in those 10 minutes, including a 10-0 run, that had them up by 25 points at the break
  • The Rams kept their offense clicking, hitting 19 points in the third quarter and adding 21 in the final 10 minutes to earn the 82-43 victory
  • Every Jefferson player had a basket in the contest. They were led by Gabby Recinto with her 24 points on the evening while also earning a double double as she secured 14 rebounds. Emily Spratt followed suit, producing 19 points of her own. Caleigh Sperling added 13 off the bench for the Rams
  • Marasia Dyes led the Lightning with nine points in the game

With their win last week at Dominican and a victory tonight, women's basketball has secured a spot in the CACC Championship Tournament. Seeding will be determined with the final two weeks of the regular season left.

Jefferson will host their second straight home contest on Saturday, February 21 as the Rams welcome Caldwell University to the Gallagher Center. The game begins at 1:30 p.m.
