Men's Tennis Gets Win Against West Virginia State; Faces Fairmont State in Round of 32
 
FAIRMONT, W. VA.. – Seeded as the third seed in the NCAA Atlantic Regional, Thomas Jefferson University men's tennis (17-6) took down West Virginia State University (10-7) 4-0 in the first round of the NCAA Atlantic Tournament.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
  • Jules Thibault and Antonio Mateos Melenchon secured the third position 6-3 while the Yellow Jackets won in the first spot. Nicholas Trebuchet and Johary Rabetrano edged out West Virginia State in the second position 6-4 to give Jefferson the point advantage heading into the singles competition
  • Four of the six singles matches headed into a third set as both teams looked to get ahead in points quickly. Thibault and Mateos Melenchon both got wins in the third and fourth spot respectively while Matt CIzmarik had the deciding point in the sixth spot, securing Jefferson in the Round of 32 tomorrow
100 WINS
After getting his singles victory, Mateos Melenchon went to become the eighth Ram men's tennis player to eclipse the 100 career win mark and 14th overall for the program.
 
UP NEXT
Jefferson will now play tomorrow on Tuesday, May 12 as the Rams face host and second seeded Fairmont State University at 12 p.m.
