BELLE VERNON, Pa. (Sept. 5, 2026) – Junior Brooklyn Millard took center stage as the individual medalist as the Thomas Jefferson University women's golf team opened the 2026-27 season with a collective runner-up finish at the Vulcan Invitational, contested at Cedarbrook Golf Course.

The Rams posted a 36-hole score of 616 (+48), following an opening-round 315 with a 301 in the second round. Jefferson finished just five strokes behind tournament champion West Chester University. The invitational was originally scheduled for 54 holes, but inclement weather suspended the second round on Thursday before the tournament was shortened to 36 holes on Friday.

Millard, a Division I transfer from the University of Toledo, was the story of the tournament for the Rams, firing consecutive under-par rounds to finish at 3-under (70/69) and claim the individual championship by eight strokes.

The junior opened the tournament with a one-under 70, recording birdies on the par-three fifth, par-five 13th and par-four 16th holes. Her consistency would be key, as Millard carded just two bogeys during the round and played her final eight holes at two-under par. She was even better in the second round, turning in a two-under 69, and over the full tournament, Millard totaled seven birdies and 25 pars, never recording worse than a bogey on any hole.

Jefferson also made a significant improvement as a team in the second round, shaving 14 strokes off its opening-round score. The Rams' 301 secured second place by a comfortable margin, finishing 21 strokes ahead of third-place Adelphi. Sophomore Cami Beuret came through at +10 to secure an eighth-place overall finish, while rookie Anna Firko, making her Jefferson debut, rounded out the Rams' top three scorers with an overall finish of 16th.

Head Coach Nick Nguyen and the Rams will return to action at the WCU Battlefield Classic, set to be contested at the Links of Gettysburg in Gettysburg, Pa. between Sept. 20 and 22.
