Men's Basketball Takes Down Post
PHILADELPHIA – In a rematch of last year's conference tournament semifinals match, Thomas Jefferson University men's basketball (6-4, 3-2) shot 54.8% on the floor and 44.4% from beyond the arc as the Rams took down Post University (3-6, 2-2) in Saturday afternoon Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The first half saw both squads produce good shooting performances with Jefferson shooting 19-of-28 on the floor (67.86%) while Post went 13-of-29 (44.83%) in the first 20 minutes
- The lead changed twice during the first half, with Brendan Mykalcio hitting a three pointer that gave the Rams a 14-11 lead and would keep them ahead of the Eagles for the rest of the contest
- After Post got within four points with 6:38 to go, Jefferson went on a 20-9 run that put them up 47-32 at halftime
- Second half saw the Eagles edge the Rams 42-40 in points, with seven of their 11 three-pointers coming after the halftime break
- Jefferson pushed their to lead as much as 25 points and only allowed Post to get as close as 12 points, earning the 87-74 victory
- Matt McCool led all scorers with 21 points on the day, shooting 9-of-12 (75%) on the floor. Sean Fullerton was second on the team with 15 points. Brendan Mykalcio and Jahmare Memphis produced 13 and 12 points respectively off the bench. Jeremiah Dorsey finished the double-digit scoring with 10 points
