Wilmington, DE- The men's soccer team (2-2-2, 0-1 CACC) dropped
a tough 3-2 double overtime loss to #24 Wilmington University on
the road tonight in their conference opener. The Wildcat's
(4-1-1, 1-0 CACC) winning goal was scored on a breakaway with 43
seconds left in the second. Junior Svetozar
Gladic (Novi Sad, Serbia) had both goals for the
Rams.
The game started off without much offense, at halftime the game
was tied at 0. Gladic broke the game open at the 46 minute
mark with a penalty kick goal to go up 1-0. The Wildcats
clawed back with a goal of their own at 52:37 to tie it.
Gladic responded with his second goal of the night at 82:30,
this time assisted by sophomore Mike Mousaw
(Marmora, NJ/ Ocean City) to lead again 2-1.
With the clock ticking, the Wildcats scored at 89:41 to send the
game into overtime. Both teams played through a scoreless
first OT, and Wilmington got the game-winner with under a minute
remaining in the second extra period.
Senior goalie Charles Custer (Cinnaminson, NJ/
Cinnaminson) had three saves in goal.
The Rams will continue their road trip at Post University on
Monday, September 22nd at 4:00 p.m.
