Soccer Faded 4-3 in Loss at #23 Wilmington

New Castle, DE- The Philadelphia University men's soccer team (9-4, 6-3 CACC) suffered a 4-3 loss on the road at Wilmington University (14-2, 8-0 CACC) on Wednesday evening.  The win keeps WU undefeated in conference play, while the Rams continue to struggle when playing away contests.

The Wildcats took an early 1-0 lead with a goal just 41 seconds into play, but PhilaU responded on a shot by freshman midfielder Sean Crossland (Birdsboro, PA/Exeter Township Senior H.S) at 18:20, assisted by senior forward Svetozar Gladic (Novi Sad, Serbia).  WU would go on to score two more goals in the first period, to lead 3-1 going into halftime.

PhilaU scored two more goals in the second half, a goal by Gladic at 53:08 and a close-range nudge at 57:40 by senior Kristoffer Perez (Parlin, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy)-both assisted by sophomore midfielder Ryan Purnell (Freeport, Trinidad/Notre Dame).  The Wildcats scored one more-the game-winner by Sargbah Tarpeh early in the first half.  The Ram goals would not be enough as they trailed the rest of the way, outshooting WU 16-10 but falling 4-3 to end it.

PhilaU senior goalie Buddy Custer (Cinnaminson, NJ/ Cinnaminson) had two saves in goal, while WU Duhan Malali made six saves for the 'Cats.
