Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University
men's soccer team (10-4, 7-3 CACC) dictated the pace in a 6-0 romp
over conference opponent Concordia College (2-11, 2-6 CACC) on
Monday afternoon. PhilaU sophomore Ian
Martin (Beachwood, NJ/ Toms River South) led all scorers
with three goals.
PhilaU held the advantage on shots 18-11.
The Rams wasted no time in lighting up the scoreboard, as junior
midfielder Mike Mousaw (Marmora, NJ/ Ocean City)
headed the ball in off a rebound to score the game-winner with just
over a minute into regulation. Martin would follow-up with
his first goal of the day at 34:04 to take a 2-0 lead heading into
the break.
PhilaU scored four more in the second half, getting a goal from
sophomore midfielder Ryan Purnell (Hamilton,
Bermuda/ Berkeley Inst.) in the 47th minute as well as
Martin's second score in the 67th.
Martin completed his hat trick at 70:25 to put the Rams up 5-0,
and freshman midfielder Adam Miller (Swainton, NJ/
Middle Twp.) got his first career goal at 71:56 to end the scoring
for PhilaU.
PhilaU senior goalie Buddy Custer (Cinnaminson,
NJ/ Cinnaminson) made five stops in 69 minutes of action, while
sophomore keeper Jack Purdy (Gettysburg, PA/
Gettysburg) saw action for the second time this year- making two
saves in 20 minutes of work. CC's Giovanni Olarte had seven
saves for the Clippers.
The Rams hit the road next for a Thursday (10/22) contest at
Mercy College, slated for 3:30 p.m.
