Dobbs Ferry, NY- The Philadelphia University
men's soccer team (11-4, 7-3 CACC) got a 1-0 shutout over
non-conference Mercy College (3-9, 1-4 ECC) on Thursday
afternoon.
Sophomore midfielder Ryan Purnell (Hamilton,
Bermuda/ Berkeley Inst.) scored the game-winner on a header in the
74th minute, assisted by junior forward Kyle
Altenau (W. Long Branch, NJ/ Shore Regional).
Senior goalie Buddy Custer (Cinnaminson, NJ/
Cinnaminson) had four saves in goal, while MC's Martin Walsh made
six stops.
PhilaU travels to Dominican College on Saturday (10/24), for a
3:00 p.m. game to be played at Tappan Zee High School.
