Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University
men's soccer team (8-2, 5-1 CACC) breathed a sigh of relief in a
2-1 win over the Bloomfield College Deacons (2-7-1, 1-3-1 CACC) on
Saturday. With the game tied 1-1 heading into single digits
on the clock, senior forward Svetozar Gladic (Novi
Sad, Serbia) scored the game-winner.
Junior defender Wojciech Sliwinski (Kenilworth,
NJ/ David Brearley) scored for the Rams just 10 minutes into the
first half after crashing on a corner kick.
The Deacons responded with a goal at 24:47 by Evan Tageo to tie
it 1-1 in the second half, but PhilaU's Gladic scored the
game-winner from sophomore forward Milos Racic
(Belgrade, Serbia/Ridley) with under 10 minutes in regulation.
PhilaU senior goalie Buddy Custer (Cinnaminson,
NJ/ Cinnaminson) made five saves for the Rams, while BC's Steven
Alsonso had 14 saves.
The Rams head to Chestnut Hill College on Tuesday (10/6) for a 7
p.m. contest.
