PhilaU Turns on Heat in 3-2 Win at Washington Adventist

Tacoma Park, MD- Senior midfielder Emmanuel Asangmbeng (Riverdale, MD/ Bladensburg) stepped into the spotlight with the game-winning goal as PhilaU (7-2, 4-1 CACC) captured a 3-2 men's soccer non-conference win over Washington Adventist University (4-7) on Wednesday night.

The Rams didn't turn on the offensive juice until the second half, falling behind on a WAU goal at the 32:00 mark in the first period.

Senior forward Kristoffer Perez (Parlin, NJ/ CBA) tied the game on a pass from sophomore forward/midfielder Ian Martin (Beachwood, NJ/ Toms River South) at 66:07 in the second half.  Just 20 seconds later, junior midfielder Ryan Flaherty (West Chester, PA/ Henderson) scored on a free kick to give PhilaU the 2-1 go-ahead.

Asangmbeng's game-winner came in the 71st minute off a throw in from senior forward Svetozar Gladic (Novi Sad, Serbia).  WAU came back to score in the 83rd minute, but that was all they could manage as the Rams pulled out a 3-2 road win.

PhilaU senior keeper Buddy Custer (Cinnaminson, NJ/ Cinnaminson) had two saves, while WAU's Luis Caro made 14 stops.

The Rams return to action for PhilaU's homecoming match on Saturday (10/3) at 2:30 p.m. at Ravenhill Field.
