Rams (2-1, 0-0 CACC) got late game heroics from senior forward
Svetozar Gladic (Novi Sad, Bosnia) to take a 3-2
non-conference win over the East Stroudsburg University Warriors
(2-3, 0-0 PSAC) on Wednesday afternoon at Ravenhill Field.
Gladic scored the golden goal in the 108th minute of the
match.
In the first half, PhilaU sophomore midfielder Ryan
Purnell (Hamilton, Bermuda/ Berkeley Inst.) gave the Rams
a 1-0 lead at 26:56. Sophomore forward Milos
Racic (Belgrade, Serbia) followed with the Ram's second
goal at 57:18 in the second half.
ESU fought back with a score by Toric Robinson at 62:37 and
another by Greg Schook just five minute later to tie it at 2-2.
The teams fought through 18 minutes of overtime before Gladic
scored the game-winner, assisted by junior midfielder Ryan
Flaherty (West Chester, PA/ Henderson).
PhilaU senior goalie Buddy Custer (Cinnaminson,
NJ/ Cinnaminson) had 13 saves, while ESU's Larry Pokrywa had eight
stops for the Warriors.
The PhilaU squad returns to action on Saturday (9/12) at
Felician College at 3:00 p.m. for their CACC opener.
