Box Score Shippensburg, PA- The Philadelphia University men's basketball team (1-2) dropped their first game at Shippensburg University's Wolf Line Bus Tournament 73-60 to Mercyhurst College on Friday afternoon. The Rams were led by junior big man Temi Adebayo, who had a team-high 20 points with six boards and three blocks.
The difference-maker was three-point shooting in this game, as the Rams went 0-5 and MC shot 9-17 from the arc (53%).
Teams were tied 33-33 at the half.
In the second half, two made free-throws by PhilaU sophomore guard Jim Connolly gave the Rams a 39-38 lead, and junior forward Corey Francisco would make a bucket to keep it tied at 41's, but MC would start to get hot. Francisco had 13 points while Connolly had 10 on the day.
A fastbreak by MC's Heiden Ratner at 4:19 put the Rams behind 69-57 and that would do it for PhilaU as the final score read MC 73, PhilaU 60.
The Rams return to action tomorrow (11/20) in their second and final game of the tournament, a 8 p.m. date with host Shippensburg University.
