Box Score LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. -- The Philadelphia University men's soccer team lost to host Chestnut Hill College, 3-2, in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) finale Tuesday night at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School.
The Rams are now 5-10 overall and 3-8 against the CACC. Philadelphia was eliminated from postseason cotention with the loss. Philadelphia travels to Mercy College for a non-conference match Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 3 p.m.
Chestnut Hill improves to 6-10-1 overall and 4-7 in conference play.
Alex Null broke a 1-1 deadlock with a 59th-minute goal to put the Rams in front. Mark Holman earned the assist on Null's first goal of the year.
The Griffins answered when Gavin Reed scored in the 64th minute after receiving a pass from Chris Wilson. Mark Pugliese netted the game-winning goal on a 68th-minute direct kick.
Philadelphia keeper Thomas Attamante recorded five saves, while Chestnut Hill's Mike Goldstein made four saves. The Rams had a 12-10 shot advantage.
Chestnut Hill took a 1-0 lead at the 14:32 mark on a goal by Matt Kerns. Pat Steger assisted on the play. The Rams Sean Crossland tied the game by converting a penalty kick in the 20th minute. It was Crossland's first goal of 2011.
