Lobb caps Senior Day rally as men's soccer stuns Dominican (N.Y.), 2-1

Box Score

PHILADELPHIA – Defender Travis Lobb was honored in a pre-match Senior Day ceremony and then netted the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute to cap a furious rally and give the Philadelphia University men's soccer team a 2-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win over Dominican (N.Y.) Saturday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.

The Rams, who earned their first-ever win against Dominican, improve to 7-4-4 overall and 4-3-3 in the CACC. The Chargers, who entered the match eighth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division II East Region poll, are now 7-3-1 overall and 5-2-0 against the conference.

Lobb along with defender Nick Baron, and midfielders Adam Miller and Sean Crossland were recognized prior to kick-off for their four years of service in a Philadelphia uniform.

Three of the four seniors had a hand in the match's deciding goal. Crossland took a corner kick, which was headed into the air by Miller. Lobb outjumped the Dominican defense and used his head to knock the ball into the net for his third goal of 2012.

Ishmaiah Calwrie had evened the match up for Philadelphia just about two minutes earlier with a right-footed blast from the center of the field just outside the penalty area. Jonathan Fredericks fed Calwrie, who scored his third goal of the year, with a pass from the left wing.

Neil Kwiatkowski made one save in the match to earn the win in goal.

Luis Delpezo gave the Chargers the lead in the 52nd minute as he took a shot through traffic from the right side of the penalty area and past a screened Kwiatkowski. Sony Narro assisted on the goal.

Dominican's Andres Ruiz stopped five shots.

The Rams outshot the Chargers 15-11 and had a 6-2 corner kick advantage.

Philadelphia closes out its three-match homestand against the No. 1 team in the NSCAA national poll, LIU-Post, on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 3 p.m.
