Box Score BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – The Philadelphia University Rams put together a solid defensive effort, capped with a goal by defender Angelo Dambalas, to win its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) finale 1-0 over host Bloomfield Saturday afternoon.
The Rams wrap up conference play with a record of 5-3-3, which will qualify the team for the CACC Championship Tournament for the first time since 2010. Philadelphia, who improves to 8-5-4 overall, ends the regular season against Millersville on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 3 p.m. on Ravenhill Field.
Dambalas netted his first career goal in the 34th minute by heading in a corner kick, one of three for the Rams in the first half, taken by Sean Crossland.
Philadelphia's defense weathered a Deacon (6-5-2, 4-2-2 CACC) offense that attempted nine shots in the first 45 minutes; however, none were on target.
In the second half, the Rams backline turned up the pressure and only allowed three shots, none on goal, in the second half. Bloomfield had two late corner kicks, but the Rams held strong to earn the shutout win.
Neil Kwiatkowski was the winning keeper for Philadelphia. Bloomfield's Kieran Moran made two saves. The Deacons outshot the Rams, 12-6
