PHILADELPHIA – Forward Ryan Schroy's first collegiate goal was the difference in the Philadelphia University men's soccer team's 1-0 regular season finale win over visiting Millersville Wednesday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.
The Rams conclude the 2012 regular season with a record of 9-5-4. Philadelphia's season will continue on Tuesday, Oct. 30 with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament quarterfinal round match at a location and against an opponent still to be determined.
Schroy blasted a shot across the goalmouth from 12 yards away into the right side of the Millersville (9-7-0) net. Midfielder Victor Chagonda made a great run down the left sideline before feeding Schroy for the 73rd minute tally.
The Marauders nearly got on the board first when Matt Kadoch fired off a low shot across the goal in the 56th minute, but keeper Neil Kwiatkowski made a diving save to hit right to keep the match scoreless.
In the 58th minute, Chagonda broke free on the left corner of the penalty area, dribbled around the keeper and played a ball into the box for forward Jonathan Fredericks. Fredericks played the ball off of his chest and had it ricochet off of the left post.
Kwiatkowski finished the match with two saves for the Rams and earned his seventh shutout of the season. Millersville's Brad Benzing recorded one stop.
The Rams outshot the Marauders, 8-7, while Millersville owned a 6-3 corner kick advantage.
