Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia men's soccer team suffered a 1-0 Homecoming Day defeat to visiting Felician Saturday afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match on Ravenhill Field.
Philadelphia, who was ranked fifth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division II East Region Poll, is now 4-2-4 overall and 2-1-3 in the CACC. Felician moves to 4-3-2 overall and 3-2-2 against the conference.
The Golden Falcons broke through in the 78th minute when Brian Vega was the beneficiary of a rebound left on a shot taken by Azedine Masszouzi. Vega had an open net after Rams' keeper Neil Kwiatkowski was forced to make a diving save to deny Masszouzi.
Kwiatkowski finished the contest with three saves, all coming in the second half. Felician's Anthony Tsouhnikas made five saves in net for the Golden Falcons. He got enough of Victor Chagonda's 58th-minute breakaway to force it wide. Tsouhnikas stopped a Jakob Passernig chance with 12 seconds remaining in the shot.
Philadelphia had an 18-10 shots advantage, 11-5 in the second half. The Rams also the corner kick edge, 8-3, including a 4-0 corner kick advantage in the final 45 minutes.
The Rams travel to Holy Family to face the Tigers in a CACC match on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 4 p.m.
