Box Score LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Philadelphia University men's tennis team recorded its third win in its last four matches after defeating Division I Rider 4-3 on Thursday afternoon.
Philadelphia improves to 9-10 overall, while Rider goes to 2-16.
The Rams earned the first point of the match with victories in both contested doubles matches. The No. 1 tandem of Kyle Burke (Wakefield, R.I./South Kingston) and Chris Casamassima (Franklin Square, N.Y./St. Mary's) defeated Rollie Malfitano and Ryan Carpenter, 8-2. Nail Rachidi (Meknes, Morocco/Emile Anouar) and Ayman Barakat (Khariv, Ukraine/Kharkiv Specialized English School #3) knocked off Matt DiMartino and Mike Gershon in the No. 2 match, 8-2.
Philadelphia won the No. 3 doubles match via forfeit.
The lead grew to 2-0 as the Rams were given the No. 6 singles match because of a forfeit.
Barakat was victorious in No. 1 singles action, 6-2, 6-0 over Malfitano. In the No. 5 match, Josh Greenberg (Miami, Fla./Miami Country Day) was a 6-4, 6-4 winner against Gershon.
Philadelphia travels to Post for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match on Saturday, April 13 at 1 p.m.
