Box Score

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Sophomore midfielder Patrick Groh (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) scored his first goal of the 2013 season in the Philadelphia University men's soccer team's 4-1 loss to second-ranked LIU Post Wednesday afternoon on the LIU Post Men's Soccer Field.

Trailing 2-0 at the 33:38 mark, Groh—who had entered the match just a minute earlier—got his head on a corner kick taken by sophomore defender Angelo Dambalas (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) and beat Pioneer keeper Marco Jorgensen to bring the Rams (4-3-0) within one.

The Pioneers (7-0-0) jumped out to a 2-0 lead 4:02 into the contest thanks to a pair of Eivind Austboe goals. Austboe's first tally came 35 seconds after the opening whistle as he headed home a crossing pass from Per Forgaard. Austboe struck again 3:27 later on a crossing pass that he deposited into the lower left corner of the net.

Johann Kristijansson made it 3-1 with a fast-break goal at the 81:28 mark. Matias Ruiz added the final score with 3:32 left in the match.

In goal, Philadelphia junior Thomas Attamante (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) tied a season-high with four saves, while Jorgensen ended the match with seven stops for LIU Post. The Pioneers owned a 15-14 shot advantage.

Philadelphia returns home to face Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent Bloomfield on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 2:30 p.m.
