Box Score PHILADELPHIA – Four Philadelphia University men's soccer players found the back of the net in the Rams' 4-1 Homecoming Day triumph over Post in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) clash Saturday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.
Philadelphia, a winner in its last six matches and unbeaten in its last seven, improves to 8-3-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the CACC. The Rams are 5-0-0 on Ravenhill Field. Post is now 4-7-0 overall, 3-6-0 against the conference.
Midfielder Seiji Rose (Toulouse, France/Lycee Climatique et Sportif Pierre de Coubertin) opened the scoring with a 30th-minute free kick in the penalty arc that hit the bottom of the crossbar and went into the net for his third goal of the season.
Some pretty one-touch passing helped Philadelphia double the lead in the 38th minute on midfielder Armando Canela's (Marlborough, Mass./Marlborough) second goal this year. Rose found back Zach Brown (Bowie, Md./St. John's College) at the right side of the penalty area. Then, Brown quickly knocked the ball to an open Canela, who one-timed the pass into the open net.
Forward Ishmaiah Calwrie's (Baltimore, Md./Randallstown) diving header at the left post in the 53rd minute made it a 3-0 contest. Forward Dominic Rodriguez (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken) played a high cross from the right end line to setup Calwrie's fifth goal of the year.
Playing a man-up after a Post red card in the 54th minute, forward Victor Chagonda (Harare, Zimbabwe/St. George's) broke free from the Eagles' backline nine minutes later thanks to a through ball from midfielder Ryan McIntyre (Pitman, N.J./Pitman). Chagonda ripped a shot from 20 yards out and into the net for his team-leading sixth goal.
Post got on the board with a 64th-minute goal by Donald Fossie on a loose ball in the box.
The Rams' Thomas Attamante (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) stopped four shots in the opening 78:42 before giving way to Ben Sauer (Bel Air, Md./Perry Hall Christian), who wasn't called on to make a save.
Post's Jon Hanlon allowed all four Philadelphia goals and stopped two shots. Serigne Baba Gaye made one save in the final 21:30.
