Box Score PHILADELPHIA – Three different Rams found the back of the net in the Philadelphia University men's soccer team's 3-0 victory over Caldwell in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match Thursday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.
Philadelphia improves its overall mark to 10-3-1, 6-2-1 against the CACC. The Rams also extend their unbeaten streak to nine, including eight straight wins.
Seiji Rose (Toulouse, France/Lycee Climatique et Sportif Pierre de Coubertin) opened the scoring with a long-distance goal in the 17th minute. On a free kick at the top of the center circle on the Caldwell side of midfield, Rose lofted a high ball toward the goal and it managed to get by Cougar keeper Michael Hartmann, who came out to try and grab the ball, for his fourth goal in the last six matches.
In the 43rd minute, Felipe Francato (San Paulo, Brazil/Nossa Senora Das Gracas) scored his first collegiate goal to extend the Philadelphia lead to 2-0. Patrick Groh (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) headed a loose ball to Francato, who was standing at the left post. Francato tucked his shot inside the post for the goal.
Juan Naranjo (North Plainfield, N.J./North Plainfield) scored on a 55th minute shot from the edge of the penalty area for Philadelphia's third goal and his first in a Ram uniform. Groh picked up his second assist of the match by feeding Naranjo with a centering pass from the right wing.
The Philadelphia defense was solid, holding Caldwell (7-5-0, 4-4-0 CACC) to just four shots and kept Thomas Attamante (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) from having to make a save.
The Rams fired 22 shots at the Cougars goal, forcing Hartmann to record three saves.
