Men's soccer's unbeaten streak ends; Falls to LIU Post 1-0

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University men's soccer team's nine-match unbeaten streak was snapped by a 1-0 loss to visiting LIU Post in a non-conference match on Ravenhill Field Saturday afternoon.

Philadelphia—who went 8-0-1 during the streak—is now 10-4-1 overall. LIU Post improves to 10-3-1 overall and increases its unbeaten string to seven.

After a scoreless opening 74 minutes, Tom Bowen broke the deadlock with his second goal of the season. Alfred Lindberg fed Bowen with a centering pass from the left side, Then, Bowen took a right-footed shot from 20 yards out that found the upper right corner of the Philadelphia goal at the 74:48 mark.

Philadelphia was able to take two shots over the final six minutes, but couldn't find an equalizer.

The Pioneers' Jesper Malmstrom recorded four saves to post the shutout, while the Rams' Thomas Attamante (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) stopped two shots. Both keepers are now 9-2-1 this season.

LIU Post owned a 15-14 shot advantage.

Philadelphia ends the regular season with three consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference home matches, starting on Saturday, Oct. 25 against Felician at 2:30 p.m.
