Box Score PHILADELPHIA – Victor Chagonda (Harare, Zimbabwe/St. George's) recorded two goals and one assist to help the Philadelphia University men's soccer team pick up a 5-1 Senior Day triumph over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Felician Saturday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.
Philadelphia improves to 11-4-1 overall, 7-2-1 in the CACC. Felician falls to 2-15-0 overall and 2-9-0 in conference play.
Before the match got underway, the men's soccer program honored seniors Thomas Attamante (West Orange, N.J./West Orange), Neil Kwiatkowski (Schnectady, N.Y./Duanesburg), Ryan McIntyre (Pitman, N.J./Pitman), and Chagonda.
Chagonda opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a shot from just inside the penalty area after receiving a crossing pass from Dominic Rodriguez (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken).
Jordan Lynch (Brampton, Ontario/St. Marguerite d'Youville) doubled the advantage with 5:04 left in the first half with his fourth goal of the year. Ryan Schroy (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) found an open Lynch in the center of the box and Lynch easily deposited the ball into the center of the net. Pat Groh (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) also assisted on the play.
Felician's Kevin Cueva pulled the visitors within 2-1 as he converted a rebound on a Rafa Coronel shot into his first goal of the year at the 60:04 mark.
Just 1:25 later, Chagonda netted his second goal of the day, eighth of the year, with a shot from the left side of the goal after getting set free by a Schroy through ball and gave the Rams a 3-1 lead.
Armando Canela (Marlborough, Mass./Marlborough) extended the lead to three with his third goal of the year at 67:49. Canela one-timed a Lynch centering pass into the left side of the net from 16 yards out.
C.J. Moore (Atlanta, Ga./McEachern) beat the final horn with a header from eight yards away to record his first goal of the year and the final goal of the match. Chagonda and McIntyre both assisted on the goal.
Attamante played the first half in goal and wasn't asked to make a save. Kwiatkowski entered the game in the second half and made one stop.
Felician's Anthony Tsouhnikas recorded six saves.
The Rams owned a 24-5 shot advantage.
Philadelphia hosts Chestnut Hill in a CACC contest on Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 2:30 p.m.
