Box Score

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University men's soccer team claimed its first-ever Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) regular season title by defeating conference opponent Wilmington (Del.) 1-0 in the regular season finale Friday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.

With the victory, Philadelphia improves to 13-4-1 overall, the most wins under head coach Ptah Myers, and 9-2-1 in the CACC. The Rams will be the top seed for the CACC Tournament and draw Bloomfield in a first round match-up on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. on Ravenhill Field. The Rams defeated the Deacons 7-2 on Sept. 27 in New Jersey.

The match went scoreless until the 87:38 mark when the Rams were awarded a penalty kick after Wilmington keeper Frank Hall pulled down James Ruff (Seaville, N.J./Ocean City) from behind at the near post. On the ensuing penalty kick, Angelo Dambalas (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) beat a diving Hall with a shot to the right post for his first goal of the season.

Wilmington (11-7-0, 7-5-0 CACC) appeared to have scored the first goal of the match on a Juan Bernal header at 83:00, however Bernal was ruled offside to keep the match deadlocked.

Philadelphia keeper Thomas Attamante (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) stopped a season-high six shots to record his fifth shutout of the year. Hall ended with the match with two saves.

The Wildcats owned a 14-11 shot advantage.
