Men's soccer plays to scoreless draw with West Chester

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw against West Chester in a non-conference match Tuesday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.

Philadelphia (3-2-2) owned a majority of the possession, which led to a 17-8 shot advantage. The Rams put four of their 17 shots on target, but couldn't get one by the Golden Rams' (2-3-2) Matt Palmer.

Seiji Rose (Toulouse, France/Lycee Climatique et Sportif Pierre de Coubertin) had two shots on goal to led the Philadelphia offense. In the 33rd minute, Rose went 1-v-1 with Palmer after a long pass over the top, and put his shot into a sliding Palmer's chest. During the 68th minute, Rose put a free kick from 28 yards out on goal, but was again denied by Palmer with a diving save to his right.

Ishmaiah Calwrie (Baltimore, Md./Randallstown) broke free from the West Chester defense to get to Palmer. Palmer once again kept the Rams off the board, making a kick save with his back leg.

In the Philadelphia net, keeper Ben Sauer (Bel Air, Md./Perry Hall Christian) made two saves to record his third shutout of the year.

Philadelphia heads to Molloy for a non-conference tilt on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 3 p.m.
