Baseball Slotted Third In South Division In CACC Preseason Coaches Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Dominican College, Goldey-Beacom College and Wilmington University found themselves atop their respective divisions in the 2022 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Preseason Coaches Poll, announced on Thursday by Commissioner Dan Mara. Dominican, the reigning CACC Champion was first in the North Division, while GBC and WilmU tied for first in the voting in the South Division. Voting for the poll was conducted by the league's 11 head coaches in the sport.

Dominican earned 55 points in the North, including five first-place votes, to narrowly edge out Felician University (2nd place) who had 54 points and six first-place nods. The Golden Falcons won the CACC North Division title last spring. Rounding out the top three in the North was Caldwell University in third place with 38 points.

Goldey-Beacom and the Wildcats received 43 points apiece in the voting, as the Lightning had five coaches cast them first in the South. Wilmington had three first-place votes, and Thomas Jefferson University received three first-place nods as well as the Rams were third in the South with 35 points. Jefferson advanced to the 2021 CACC Baseball Championship Final.

The 2022 CACC Baseball season gets underway Feb. 11-13, with several teams in action. The regular season will be a buildup to the 2022 CACC Baseball Championship, which will begin with the best-of-three first-round series at the highest seeds on May 6-7. The double-elimination portion of the tournament will be held on May 12-14 at Municipal Stadium in Waterbury, Conn. Post University will serve as the host institution for that portion of the championship.
