Yencha and Timko Take CACC Co-Player of the Week Honors
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Thomas Jefferson University juniors
Sam Yencha and
Erik Timko each were honored this week as they were named by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) to the weekly awards for competition that ran through January 2-8 as announced by the conference this afternoon. Yencha and Timko were both named CACC Co-Player of the Week in their respective sports.
SAM YENCHA – CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
This is the third CACC weekly award for her and ninth for the team this season. Yencha earns her fourth weekly nomination of her career. She began the week with 17 points and 6 rebounds in the Rams 71-52 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas College. Yencha then followed that up with a career-high 32 points on 14-of-19 shooting, grabbing 9 rebounds in the process of Jefferson's 81-68 conference victory over Dominican University of New York. She averaged 24.5 points-per-game and 7.5 rebound-per-game.
ERIK TIMKO – CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Timko takes his first CACC weekly award this season as well as the first for the Rams on the year. This is his 13
th CACC weekly nod in his career, the first since January 20, 2023. Timko began the week by scoring 28 points while grabbing three rebounds and three assists in the Rams 97-79 non-conference win over St. Thomas Aquinas College. He then followed that up with a 25 point performance, shooting .800 on the field, and 3-5 from beyond the arc as Jefferson cruised over Dominican University of New York 110-81 in CACC action.
Yencha and Timko will both be prepping for late action tomorrow when both Jefferson basketball teams compete in their home stretch as they host Georgian Court University in a CACC doubleheader. The women's basketball team will start at 6 p.m., followed by the men's basketball team at 8 p.m.
