Men's Basketball Uses Second Half to Comeback and Defeat Kutztown; Rams Stay Undefeated

KUTZTOWN, PA – Trailing 31-21 after the half, the Thomas Jefferson University men's basketball team (3-0) shot 59% on the floor and outscored the Golden Bears 40-25 in the second half as the Rams defeated Kutztown University (0-3) in Wednesday night non-conference action. 

WHAT HAPPENED 

• After Kutztown scored the first four points, Jeremiah Dorsey had a steal and layup play as well as a three-pointer to get an early lead for the Rams 

• Isaiah Thomas-McClain and Sean Fullerton hit a three as well to have Jefferson go up 11-8 

• Jaiden McGhee and Jalen Bryant made their own shots from beyond the arc while Jordan Niko Abesslo hit a shot to have Kutztown up 16-11 

• Jefferson got within one point with Ashton Miller, Farouk Kaba, and Fullerton making their shots as the Rams trailed 20-19 

• The Golden Bears scored 11 straight points, with nine coming off the charity strip. Miller made a layup before the half as the Rams trailed 31-21 

• Miller and Thomas-McClain score a three-pointer to begin the half as Justin Hawkins make two free throws to make it 33-29 

• After Kutztown gets points on the board, Fullerton and Dorsey nail their shots from beyond the arc to set up Hawkins making two more shots from the charity strip to even it at 37-37 

• Hawkins then scored five points in a row, helping him to a team-leading 15 on the night, as a and-one conversion makes it 42-39. Kaba hits a three to follow his teams lead and extend the Rams lead 

• The Golden Bears go on a 16-8 run to even it at 53-53 with Tyler Koenig, Kidd Brizek, Yahmir Satterfield, and McGhee shots with Bryant making a three pointer 

• Cosbey Napoleon scores his shot with Dorsey joining him as the Rams go up 58-54. Amir Cunningham scores to make Kutztown trail by two 

• Hawkins and Dorsey go 3-4 on the line to hold the Rams lead and earn them the 61-5 win
