Men's Soccer Ties Against No.23 Wilmington
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer (4-3-1, 2-1-1) faced their toughest test of the season, hosting No.23 nationally-ranked Wilmington University of Delaware (5-1-3, 1-1-2). The Rams were down in the 60th minute, but responded five minutes later to end the Wednesday afternoon Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest against the Wildcats in a 1-1 tie.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The first half was competitive with both teams taking eight shots apiece. Both squads had multiple opportunities to score, but good defense and goalkeeping by William Kiers and JR Sexton kept the game scoreless in the first half
- Wilmington picked it up in the second half, outshooting Jefferson 8-4 in the second period
- The Wildcats got on the board from a Michiharu Takanashi goal. Theo Faillon kicked the ball to the middle where Takanashi hit it right past Sexton to make it 1-0 for Wilmington
- The Rams refused to go down in this game as a free kick by Paul Nedeoglo set up a header by Mohamed Elhendawy at the 65th minute to even it out at 1-1
- Both teams went down the field and had chances to break the tie but couldn't capitalize as the match ended at 1-1
