Men's Soccer Gets Late Goals Each Half; Passes Dominican
PHILADELPHIA –Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer (4-3, 2-1) had a goal near the end of each half, helping them to earn a 2-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over Dominican University of New York (1-5-2, 1-2) in Saturday afternoon action during Homecoming.
WHAT HAPPENED
- First half was very competitive, seeing both squads going on the offensive as the Chargers had 10 shots compared to the Rams eight
- Jefferson capitalized on their opportunity, with Diego Guzman and Gavin Dunlop both popping the ball up to Parker Smith, who kicked it to the right side of the goal as he gave the Rams a 1-0 lead right before halftime
- The second half had the defenses clamp up, with nine total shots taken by both teams
- Sean Stackhouse got the ball and passed it down the sideline to Mike Cancelliere. Cancelliere kicked it to the middle to Guzman, who got out of a Charger defender's face and netted his shot at the 82nd minute to put the game on ice
- JR Sexton made five saves on the day to keep the Chargers out of the net and earn his second straight shutout of the season
