Women's Lacrosse Late Comeback Falls Short at No.20 Dominican
ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse (9-4, 4-1) scored four straight goals in the final quarter to be down by only two but were unable to finish the comeback as the Rams fell 11-9 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action to No.20 nationally-ranked Dominican University of New York (8-3, 4-0) on Saturday.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Meaghan Avanzato got the first goal of the game just under two minutes into the contest for Jefferson to go ahead. Dominican would go on to score the next five in a row for a 5-1 lead heading into the second
- Reagan Rogers got two straight goals to cut the lead by two. Madelyn Grella scored for the Chargers that had the game at 6-3 heading into the break
- Dominican scored three straight goals before Rogers and Iris Gluck got their shots in the back of the net to have it at 9-5 heading into the final quarter
- Dominican scored back-to-back goals and held an 11-5 lead with 10:41 to go. The Rams clawed their way back to trail by two as Taylor Hood had two goals while Rogers and Lilly Lutz put up one apiece to make it 11-9 with 3:29 to go
- Jefferson only generated one shot after that, falling to the Chargers 11-9
