Shippey Registers Four Goals, Four Assists in Lady Rams Road Victory

Senior midfielder Shannon Shippey tallied four goals and four assists in leading the Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team to a 19-7 victory at St. Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday afternoon.  With the win, the Lady Rams improve to 6-2 overall on the season including a 1-1 record in the East Coast Conference (ECC).

First-year Head Coach Jenn Devinney's team scored the first 12 goals of the contest, including four from sophomore midfielder Kathleen Maurer (pictured).  Maurer finished the contest with a game-high five goals while senior Brooke Woodland added three goals and one assist in the triumph.  Following the game-opening flurry by the Lady Rams, the host Spartans responded with five consecutive goals to trim the lead to 12-5 at the half.  In the second frame, however, Shippey scored three goals and added one assist as the Lady Rams posted seven unanswered goals en route to the victory in Sloatsburg, N.Y.

In goal, sophomore Kelly Staerk and sophomore Kathleen Sullivan combined for 13 saves for Philadelphia University, which will be back in action on Sunday, April 13th, hosting Wilmington University at Ravenhill Field.
