Seniors Allison Kessler (pictured) and Shannon Shippey scored
four goals and three goals, respectively, in leading the
Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team to a 19-5 win at Dominican
College on Sunday afternoon. Shippey also added a team-high
four assists and Kessler finished with two helpers for the Lady
Rams, who improved to 8-3 overall with the victory.
Head Coach Jenn Devinney's team took control of the contest from
the opening draw, scoring the first nine goals of the contest in
holding a 14-1 advantage at the half. Freshman Michelle
O'Hanlon had a major role in the team's early success, tallying
four first-half goals while Shippey contributed two goals and two
assists in the opening frame. In the second half, the Lady
Rams rode the play of sophomore netminder Kelly Staerk, who
collected seven saves in earning her sixth victory of the
season.
The Lady Rams will be back in action on the road for their next
outing, a non-league battle with Chestnut Hill College on
Wednesday, April 23rd.
