Seniors Shannon Shippey (pictured) and Maggie Bornhorst
registered seven points and six points, respectively, helping the
Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team to a 20-7 win over
Dominican College in the Lady Rams' home finale for 2008. The
triumph improves Head Coach Jenn Devinney's team to 12-4 overall on
the season entering its final contest of the season, at
nationally-ranked C.W. Post on Sunday, May 4th.
The Lady Rams jumped out quickly in the contest, taking a 7-0
lead just ten minutes into the game as Shippey collected two goals
and two assists. After a Chargers' goal put them on the
board, Philadelphia University scored the next nine goals to take a
commanding 16-1 lead, eventually settling for a 17-2 advantage at
the half as freshman Kelly Dallas tallied her fifth goal of the
season with five seconds left in the opening frame. In the
second half, Dominican scored two of the first three goals and
tallied five of the eight second-half goals of the game, accounting
for the final 20-7 margin.
